On February 1st, the reporter learned from Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University that the heart surgery group of the hospital applied the 3D printing technology to transcatheter aortic valve replacement surgery (TAVI) for the first time. It was successfully a 77-year-old aortic valve. TAVI surgery planning and navigation were performed in patients with severe stenosis and dysfunction.
According to Wang Chunsheng, the person in charge of the research group, 3D printing technology has been used clinically in orthopedics, dentistry, etc., but the application in cardiac surgery has just started.
TAVI surgery is very different from conventional thoracotomy. Doctors can't directly look at the whole heart during surgery, and can't cut the heart to observe the internal fine structure. Therefore, preoperative imaging assessment and intraoperative navigation are essential. However, at present, CT, MRI, and supercardiography can only provide two-dimensional field of view on the screen, while 3D printing technology converts patient 2D image data into a lifelike and life-sized heart model presented to the doctor, providing more More traditional imaging examinations are difficult to display rich information, making the surgery more accurate and safe.
The Heart Surgery Group of Zhongshan Hospital collected high-resolution CT and ultrasonographic images of the patient, and printed a complete 3D model of the heart and aorta, and based on this, developed a careful planning and implementation plan. Wei Lai, deputy director of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, completed the TAVI operation in just one hour. The patient's X-ray exposure time was shortened by half, and the contrast agent dosage was reduced by 1/3. The intraoperative and postoperative vital signs were very stable. The review showed the prosthetic valve. Positioning is accurate and working properly.
