According to the American Academy of Allergy (Asthma & Immunology), peanuts are one of the most important allergens in children's food allergies. Unfortunately, peanut allergy also has a potential Fatal reaction. Peanut allergy is the chief culprit in food allergy deaths. Now, biotechnology company DBV Technologies has successfully developed a peanut allergy patch, Viaskin Peanut, which can gradually train the body's immune system to withstand peanuts.
The US Food Allergy Research Consortium has used the patch to conduct a study funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. To date, 75 4-25 year old peanut allergy volunteers have used this patch. In a one-year clinical trial, the study confirmed that high dose (250 mg) or low dose (100 mg) of Viaskin Peanut patch improved peanut allergy in volunteers.
The results of the trial confirmed that nearly half of the high-dose and low-dose volunteers received more than 10 times more peanut protein than before, and did not produce any allergic reactions - especially in children aged 4-11.
It is worth noting that this product has not been officially approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The research results were recently published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
